All schools closed from nursery to 8th class for a week in this state capital
Eye flu is spreading rapidly in many states of the country these days. Many cases of eye flu have been reported in Arunachal Pradesh. Due to which the schools in the capital Itanagar were closed for a week due to the flu. The Deputy Commissioner’s Office has announced the closure of all government and private schools (Nursery to Class 8) in the capital from July 25 to July 29. State’s Longding district administration has also ordered temporary closure of schools in Kanubari sub-division following outbreak of conjunctivitis, an eye infection. Bani Lego, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Longding, said that keeping in view the seriousness of the matter, the heads of all the schools falling under Kanubari and Lawnu educational development blocks are directed to temporarily close their respective institutions till July 29 to break the chain of the disease. The DC informed that according to the doctors the disease is highly contagious and can spread from one infected person to another. Conjunctivitis is an eye infection caused by various viruses. Due to this disease, there is redness, itching, burning sensation in the eyes, tears come and grittiness is felt. This infection can spread easily through direct or indirect contact with eye secretions, contaminated objects or respiratory droplets of an infected person. Health officials have recommended frequent hand washing, avoiding touching the eyes, personal hygiene, disinfecting surfaces and isolating infected individuals until they recover, to prevent further spread of the disease.
